Wow. The alliterations were excellent, as always. Sometimes I just zone out when I read your poetry, listening to the words but not the meaning. Then I go back and read it again and I enjoy both the sound and what the poem is saying. This was definitely a wonderful poem-- about summer love, I'm going to assume. I never know for sure with you. There's only interpretations and interpretations. And that's the best way to write. :)

I agree, one cannot create nor destroy energy, but I think I may have worded it weirdly. I wrote something else, along the same basic lines, while I was bored during school today. I think it's more clear in my reasoning:

"Darkness is not a thing unto itself; it is the lack of light. One may not cast light without shadow; and only by taking away light can one cast shadow. Light creates dark, though dark is the constant, for light is energy and cannot be called infinite. It is transferred from its usable form (in stars) to its unusable form (in black holes), and the day will eventually come when no energy remains usable. Then, dark will reign supreme and no life nor heat nor goodnosses or evil will exist, and no memories will there be to recall such days when there were. No longer will there be day. Nothing will remain.

It is only by knowing darkness that we know light. It is only by knowing evil that we know goodness. However, such things live a life of brevity: the goodness, and the light, are not of infinite source, and thus one day will be completely eradicated, allowing darkness and evil as constants.

I believe the same can be said of happiness and sadness. The question I pose is this: is knowing such fleeting bliss worth suffering an eternity of sorrow?"

Anyway, by all means I'm not saying this is right or anything. I just found the concept of light, heat, and energy very interesting and wanted to apply it to something more human, more personal on an individual basis. :) Thank you for your reasoning.
